Just one or two hours a week as a volunteer will not only make a difference in a child's life, it will make a positive impact on yours as well. Volunteering at Madison will provide you with new experiences and skills as you serve as a role model to kids and positively impact the communities in which they live. Our goal is to match your availability, skills and interests with a clubhouse near where you work or live. In addition to one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities at our clubhouses in Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens, volunteers are also welcome at our Manhattan administrative offices. These rewarding volunteer opportunities fall into four basic categories:
Individual Volunteer Opportunities
One-Time Commitment
There are countless ways to come and experience Madison through a one-time volunteer commitment. Madison needs motivational speakers, judges for our Youth of the Year contest, help with special events such as end of the year awards ceremonies and a host of other activities.
Special Activity Commitment
Special activity volunteers make a commitment to Madison's youth for a specified duration to conduct a special activity. This is ideal for professionals who would like to volunteer regularly and build relationships with our youth but are not able to volunteer each week. Examples include a
once- a- month commitment to teach a leadership course for our teens, teaching a hobby over the course of a few weeks, assisting with special events at the club or providing professional services such as architectural planning or landscaping.
Regular Commitment
The most intensive of our volunteer opportunities, an ongoing volunteer is an individual who commits to volunteer on a regular basis for a fixed period of time. Examples include serving as an art or drama teacher, a tutor, a coach or the facilitator of a variety of programs for youth. This commitment generally requires one day a week for a fixed period of time.
Madison also welcomes volunteer groups from corporations and other organizations. We can develop a "Community Volunteerism Day" or similar program that enables your staff or group not only to serve the community but to build comradery and work as a team. We can also develop long-term mentoring relationships between your group and our youth.
